Producer/Director Tom Kurlander, DP Justin Illig

JumpStart Films was founded in 2007 by Tom Kurlander.

Tom began his entertainment career working as an Assistant Publicist for Columbia Pictures in New York before moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, ultimately appearing in Young Guns II, Flatliners, Kindergarten Cop and many tv shows and commercials.

He began his directorial career making documentaries about families. He then focused on working with corporate clients and producing commercials, music videos and internet content of many lengths.

Tom works a small but exceptional crew who together do the one thing that matters the most. Deliver.


Ken Fay

Consulting Producer

Ken Fay is an experienced heart centered storyteller with a plethora of productions to his credit. Ken worked his way from production assistant to senior producer in the cable television industry and has since been a Director of Productions for a startup film company and a Founder and Creative Director for two other successful Production Companies.

Ken has always been passionate about the narrative in crafting content for broadcast and web. This passion has allowed him to write, direct, and produce in a variety of genres that include; commercial ads, promotional pieces, features, long and short form documentaries, bio videos, network productions, series, faith, educational, health, insurance, technology, and corporate communications.

Managing production crews, vendors, and talent throughout the phases of production while providing creative input, strategy, and oversight to multiple teams is a foundation of his work. Researching topics and conducting in-depth interviews, developing strategy, structure, and feedback for implementation and delivery, collaborating with digital marketing and sales teams, offering processes to increase revenue, representing teams and productions at high profile events, and directing crew and talent while ensuring client and stakeholder satisfaction are all in a day's work for Ken. These core skills has allowed Ken to nurture partnerships and working relationships with the creative teams at Google, Grace Ormonde, Live Nation, The Trust, UCSF, the Israel Cancer Research Fund, KSPS PBS, the Boys and Girls Club, NBCU, and so many more. Ken has been honored with regional and national awards throughout his career, including multiple Emmy nominations and an Emmy Award for a documentary that he wrote, directed, and produced in 2014 that told the difficult story of the road to healing in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newtown, CT.
